Christmas Eve in the Mountains

For those of you who don’t know me, I’m Dru. Lindsay’s partner in crime in Dru and Lindsay Photography. Today, I’m sharing a little about the blessing of owning a photography business and also some things about my family.

One of the many reasons that Lindsay and I love having a business, is the opportunity to bless those around us with beautiful photos. We love to use it as a way to bless family and tell them thank you for all they have done for us. This session was for my family on Christmas Eve.

While it was a little bit cold, we honestly had really nice weather and the pictures turned out beautifully. It’s hard to take bad photos when you have Sheep Mountain and the vast Wyoming plains as the background. This session was a ton of fun, and was a good challenge to set up the tripod on uneven ground to include Lindsay and I in the big family portrait.

My family, is well known in Laramie, WY and I’m lucky to have them. I will start out with my brother Wyatt and my new sister in-law Amanda. Wyatt , is 7 years younger than me and he currently is married, living in Omaha, Nebraska with his wife where she attends medical school. He is an incredible mechanic working for Road Builders. Wyatt and I play a lot of disc golf together when we get the chance.

My dad, Dennis is technically my step dad, but I don’t ever call him that. His name has and always will be “Dad.”  My dad, is currently the Fire Marshall for the Laramie, Fire Department, where he reviews building plans, investigates fires and teaches the public about fire prevention practices. Dad and I enjoy working on projects together and playing board games.

My mom, Roni is a leader in our faith community as the director for the Heart to Heart Pregnancy Resource Clinic in Laramie, WY. She has been the director, since I was a young child, where it started as two small rooms and a bathroom and now their building is half of a city block in Laramie. She loves her job and loves to make a positive impact on women who find themselves in an unplanned pregnancy. Mom and I enjoy playing board games together and going to personal development conferences when we get a chance.

My grandparents, Dallas and Vivienne, are well known in Laramie, WY and the surrounding areas. They have lived in the area for most of their lives. For many years, they were predominant figures in 4H at the Albany County Fair Grounds and the Laramie Jubilee Days rodeo. They are the most active 80-year olds, I know. Currently I love going out to their Wyoming ranch and spending time with them, whether it’s a small branding, putting up a teepee or eating dinner.

My family has made an impact on Laramie. I hope to follow in their footsteps and make an impact with Lindsay in Laramie with our photography business. We hope to provide unforgettable pictures and capture memories that bring a smile to our clients face every time they look at them.
